Small Business Saturday {Mansfield, Ohio Family, Child & Senior Photographer}…

HI All!

I hope everyone had a very happy Thanksgiving!!  We had a wonderful time with our family, visiting my brother and his family in Chicago.  We laughed lots, ate lots and played lots. It was wonderful family time, with memories made.

I also hope those that got involved with Black Friday had a wonderful time and snagged some serious bargains. My favorite Black {Thursday} Friday shopping was from the comfort of my brother’s living room, where I snagged some wonderful deals.  We also managed to hit up the Lego Store on Michigan Avenue yesterday… and bought lots.

Now that Black Friday is over… did you know what today is called?  It’s Small Business Saturday.  The day is a great day to support small businesses everywhere, including DFP Photography, of course :).

So, if you know a photo session in 2014 with DFP Photography is a must {p.s… it’s a must :)} or you want to give a session as a gift {yes, we do have gift certificates!}, then now is the time to reserve your session. {This will be the only discount on pricing until next year’s Small Business Saturday}.

My Kids Were Here {Mansfield, Ohio Child Photographer… and Mommy}…

My heart was full this weekend. So very full.  This weekend was the type I want to remember for years to come. Like how my youngest son was game ready on Saturday afternoon, for Sunday’s game. This jersey is his current favorite… his “3-8 jersey” that he has to know where it is at all times.  I wash it as fast as humanly possible.  He and his big brother lay out their clothes the night before school.  Now I see {Cee} laying his clothes out in the morning for after school… so he can change into an “arms up” shirt as soon as school is over.  And now he’s even resorting to laying out this clothes 24 hours before he plans on wearing them… just to be game ready…

Or how my oldest son can spend hours making these bracelets for himself, his family and all his friends at school…

But my absolute favorite parts of this weekend was that our house was filled with louder than normal sounds of laughter.  My oldest found out on Friday afternoon, when I picked him up after school, that his best buddy got to spend the night at our house that night.  They have such fun and play so nicely together. I love to watch their friendship.

And then on Saturday my youngest got to have his first playdate at our house with his friend, who was dropped off by his mom.  {Cee} counted down from 4 night-nights until Saturday… anxiously awaiting his buddy’s arrival.  He smiled continuously from the time his little buddy was dropped off until after he left. His joy was evident… it was so fun to watch him have this time alone with his friend.

Messes were made.  Laughter was everywhere.  And life was perfect.  Weekends like these are what childhood memories are made of… and for that my heart is full.

Singin’ Around the Campfire {Mansfield, Ohio Children & Family Photographer}…

This family… I adore this family.  They are some of my favorite people in the world and I’m so glad they got to be in front of my camera again this year.  Remember them from last year?  I love watching families grow up from one year to the next… and they are no exception…

As seemed to have happened with several of my sessions this year, the weather postponed a couple dates we had planned for this family’s session.  Including a date where I had sent out a Facebook request asking for the perfect location.  I had a very nice offer for the location and we took them up on offer.  However, we had to reschedule the date due to the weather.  So in rescheduling and talking again about the location, this Momma said she really wanted to use my land.  She just knew it would be perfect and, in fact, was insistent that it was the perfect location.  And she was absolutely correct.

It was cloudy all day.  Windy too.  But it really was the last time we had to make this work.  And wouldn’t you know it, at the time of the session the wind died down, the sun peaked through the clouds and it was PERFECT. Just perfect!

Our sessions are always fun… lots of laughter and lots of love.  And we always try to do things a bit differently.  This year was no exception.

It was a perfect fall day for a campfire, hot chocolate and s’mores…

We also might have learned a thing or two about how long before the session to start the fire:)

Believe it or not, that sweet little girl did have fun at this session and the serious looks at the beginning turned into smiles by the end… it just takes her a bit to warm up.  Her whole family just dotes on her and loves her so.  My heart melted at the end of the night, when I thanked her for being so good during the session, she gave me the sweetest, quietest little “you’re welcome.”

Thank you to all of you for being so fun.  Thank you for being willing to go with whatever session ideas I mention.  Thank you for being so flexible with the crazy weather.  Thank YOU for being insistent the location was the perfect location {it really was!}. Thank you for putting your trust in me again. I adore you all!

Gracie & Me {Small Business Supporter}…

As a small business owner, obviously I believe in supporting small businesses.  And when I find a gem of a small business, I love to let others know about it.  In this case, Gracie and Me.

I discovered Gracie and Me three years ago. I was looking for a gift for a dear friend. She had recently taken up running and I wanted to get her something to commemorate her developing running career.  During my online search, I found Gracie and Me. Through my searching, I just kept coming back to her work.

I eventually contacted Barbara, the owner and designer at Gracie and Me, and placed an order with her.  Her customer service was amazing.  I was on a bit of a time crunch and she bent over backwards to help me meet my deadline, all while sending me the cheeriest emails around.

When I saw the final product, I was blown away… and in love.  The item was dainty and feminine, yet substantial and gorgeous.  I absolutely loved it. More importantly, so did my friend.

Since that time, I have been a very happy return customer to Barbara and Gracie and Me.  Her customer service is still beyond impressive.  And her products, well, they take my breath away!!  And I was so excited that this fall, instead of ordering for others, {well, actually I did place an order for another too} I ordered for myself for the first time.  And I’m in love.

I was honored when Barbara asked me to take some photos of some of her necklaces, including the ones she designed for me.  And I’m excited to share with you all their beauty.

As you can see from the site, there are several different categories to choose from, definitely something for everyone.  One of her most popular lines is her runner collection…

She also has a family collection…

And my personal favorite, handwriting charms…

I die at this last collection… those are my boys’ names… in their 6 and 3 year old handwriting. Priceless, in my opinion. I love wearing it close to my heart on a daily basis. And as much as I love this necklace now, it doesn’t hold a candle to the fact that I will love it more and more as the years go on and my boys grow and their 6 and 3 year old handwriting is a thing of long ago.  For this necklace alone, I am thankful to have found Barbara and Gracie and Me all those years ago.

With the holidays approaching and with the search for the perfect gift, you lovely ladies out there might want to print this post out, leave it on your bathroom sink or kitchen counter, somewhere easy for your husband {or significant other} to find and take the hint :).  Or you men reading this, you might want to bookmark this page… or contact Barbara now… to get your wife an unexpected but absolutely perfect holiday gift. You’re wife {or significant other} will be thanking you for years to come! :).

Oh, to make Barbara and Gracie and Me even more awesome… she has a giveaway going on right now.  You can find out more info here.

And for the record, I am not being compensated to write this post.  In fact, Barbara doesn’t even know I am doing it.  I just love supporting small businesses and Gracie and Me is one of my very absolutely favorite small businesses. I will be a customer for years to come!

Mr. Blue Eyes {Mansfield, Ohio Infant Photographer}…

Okay, so the Momma of this little boy, well, she made my head swell.  You see, she contacted me over the summer about doing a session with her little guy.  She wanted to set it up for November and just knew she wanted me to do the photos. Of course, I was already excited.  But then she mentioned she was actually coming in from CALIFORNIA just for the session.  Um, California… just for the session…seriously?!?!  I was flattered, honored, stunned, excited…. just to name a few ways I was impacted by her inquiry.

Well, of course, it’s November… and we had our session.  This little guy was an absolute and complete rock star. {And that little bit of drool… swoon!}

He was perfect. Like beyond perfect. He never fussed. Or cried. He just completely went with the flow.

Oh, and he did lots of crawling… Lots:)

And his eyes…

They equally take my breath away in black and white…

I honestly was trying to figure out a way to take him home with me.  He is a doll!

Thank you for contacting me. Thank you for coming all the way from California for our session! {I’m still a bit flattered, honored, stunned and excited :)}. Thank you for being such fun to work with for the session. Thank you for allowing me the honor of taking his first photos! Can’t wait to work with you all again in 2014!!
